How to Cancel Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) can be cancelled at any time. Monthly plans have no cancellation fee. Annual plans may charge a prorated exit fee depending on how much time is left.
⚠️ Annual plan? Read this first
- → Monthly plan: cancel anytime, no fee, access ends at billing date
- → Annual plan (paid monthly): 25% of remaining months fee may apply
- → Annual plan (paid yearly): prorated refund for unused months
- → OneDrive files: kept in read-only mode for 30 days post-cancellation
- → Word/Excel/PowerPoint: switch to view-only mode
Cancel Microsoft 365 (web)

Go to account.microsoft.com
Sign in with the Microsoft account that has the Microsoft 365 subscription.

Click "Services & subscriptions"
In the top navigation, click "Services & subscriptions". You'll see all active Microsoft subscriptions.

Find Microsoft 365 and click Manage
Locate Microsoft 365 in the list. Click "Manage" → "Cancel subscription".

Confirm
Microsoft will show the cancellation terms (including any fee for annual plans). Click through to confirm.

Cancel via Microsoft 365 admin (business accounts)
For Microsoft 365 Business subscriptions: sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center at admin.microsoft.com → Billing → Your products → select Microsoft 365 → Cancel subscription.
Only global admins and billing admins can cancel business subscriptions.
