How to Cancel Max (formerly HBO Max)
Max (rebranded from HBO Max in 2023) auto-renews monthly or annually. You can cancel from the website or app — no cancellation fee, and access continues until the end of the billing period.
✓ What happens after cancelling
- → Access continues until the end of your current billing period
- → No cancellation fee on any plan
- → Watchlist and history are kept if you resubscribe later
- → If subscribed via Amazon / Apple / Google, you must cancel there
⚠️ Cancel where you subscribed
- → Subscribed directly at max.com → cancel on max.com (see below)
- → Subscribed via Apple → cancel in iPhone Settings → Subscriptions
- → Subscribed via Amazon Channels → cancel in Amazon → Account → Prime Video Channels
- → Subscribed via Google Play → cancel in Google Play → Subscriptions
Cancel on max.com (direct subscribers)

Go to max.com and sign in
Log in with your Max account email and password.

Click your profile icon → Account
In the top right, click your profile icon. Select "Account" from the dropdown.

Click Plan & Billing → Cancel Plan
Scroll to the "Plan & Billing" section, click "Cancel Plan", and confirm. Your access lasts until the billing period ends.

Cancel via iOS (iPhone/iPad)
Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions → Max → Cancel Subscription.
This only works if you originally subscribed via the App Store.
Cancel via Amazon Channels
Go to amazon.com/hz/subscriptions → find Max under "Prime Video Channels" → Cancel channel.
GDPR route — if Max keeps charging you
Max is operated by Warner Bros. Discovery, which is bound by GDPR for EU residents. If you cancelled but continue to be charged, send a formal Art. 17 erasure request. They have 30 days to respond or face CNIL/ICO fines.
