How to Cancel iCloud+ Storage
iCloud+ plans (50GB at $0.99/month, 200GB at $2.99/month, 2TB at $9.99/month) renew monthly. You can downgrade to the free 5GB tier anytime — your photos, files, and backups are kept but you'll need to get under 5GB before new uploads work.
⚠️ Check your storage before downgrading
If you're using more than 5GB, iCloud won't delete your data — but iCloud Drive, Photos sync, Mail, and backups will be paused until you free up space. Download or delete large items first.
✓ What happens after downgrading
- → All existing files and photos remain in iCloud
- → Quota reverts to 5GB free
- → If over 5GB: new backups, photos sync, and Mail are paused
- → iCloud+ exclusive features (Custom Email Domain, Hide My Email) are removed
- → No cancellation fee
Cancel on iPhone or iPad

Open Settings → [Your name] → iCloud
Tap your name at the top of Settings, then tap "iCloud".

Tap Manage Account Storage → Change Storage Plan
Scroll down and tap "Manage Account Storage", then "Change Storage Plan".

Tap Downgrade Options → Free → Confirm
Scroll to the bottom, tap "Downgrade Options". Select "Free" and confirm. Change takes effect at the next billing date.
Cancel on Mac
Apple menu → System Settings → [Your name] → iCloud → Manage → Change Storage Plan → Downgrade Options → Free.
Cancel on Windows (iCloud for Windows)
Open iCloud for Windows → click Storage → Change Storage Plan → Downgrade Options → Free.
Or go to appleid.apple.com → sign in → iCloud → Manage Storage → Change Plan.
GDPR route — if Apple keeps charging you
Apple processes EU user data and is bound by GDPR. If you downgraded but continue to be charged for storage, send a formal Art. 17 erasure request.
