How to Cancel Dropbox Plus or Professional
Dropbox Plus (~$11.99/month) and Professional (~$19.99/month) renew automatically. You can cancel anytime and drop to the free Dropbox Basic tier — but note that Basic only gives you 2GB of storage, so remove files if you're over that limit before cancelling.
⚠️ Check your storage before cancelling
Dropbox Basic gives only 2GB. If you have more stored, files won't be deleted — but you won't be able to add new files until you're under the limit. Download or delete excess files first.
✓ What happens after cancelling
- → Access to all your files continues on Basic (read-only if over 2GB)
- → Version history reverts to 30 days (from 180 on Plus)
- → Smart Sync and desktop watermarking tools are removed
- → Access continues until end of current billing period
- → No cancellation fee

Go to dropbox.com and sign in
Log in to your Dropbox account.

Click your profile photo → Account → Plan
In the top right, click your avatar. Navigate to Account → Plan.

Click "Cancel plan" → Confirm
Under your current plan, click "Cancel plan". Choose a reason and confirm. You'll be downgraded to Dropbox Basic at the end of your billing period.

Refund policy
Annual plans are eligible for a pro-rated refund if cancelled within 30 days of renewal. Monthly plans: no refund, access continues until the billing period ends. Contact support@dropbox.com or use the help chat on dropbox.com.
GDPR route — if Dropbox keeps charging you
Dropbox processes EU user data and is bound by GDPR. If you cancelled but continue to be charged, send a formal Art. 17 erasure request. They must respond within 30 days.
