Jet2 Flight Delayed or Cancelled? Claim Up to £520 Under UK261

Jet2 is the UK's largest package holiday airline — and like all carriers operating from UK airports, it's bound by UK Regulation 261/2004 (UK261). A delay of 3+ hours at arrival, or a cancellation with less than 14 days' notice, may entitle you to fixed cash compensation of up to £520 per passenger.

🇬🇧 UK law: 6-year claim window

Under UK contract law, Jet2 compensation claims can be filed up to 6 years after the flight date. If Jet2 delayed your holiday flight in summer 2020, 2021, or 2022 — you may still be entitled to claim today.

Am I eligible?

Flight departed from a UK or EU airport on Jet2
Arrival delay was 3+ hours (measured at gate, not departure time)
Cancellation notified less than 14 days before departure
Denied boarding due to overbooking
Jet2 Holidays package flights count — same UK261 rules apply
Extraordinary circumstances: genuine severe weather, ATC strikes
Technical issues are NOT extraordinary — Jet2 cannot legally refuse on this basis

⚠️ Jet2 summer delays — peak risk routes

Jet2 operates heavily from Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Birmingham, and Edinburgh to Spanish, Greek, and Canary Island destinations. These routes see the highest delay rates in summer — Palma, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Corfu, and Antalya routes are the most frequently disrupted.

Jet2 denial tactics to watch for

  • "Extraordinary circumstances" — aircraft technical issues are NOT extraordinary under UK261
  • Claiming the delay was under 3 hours — verify your actual arrival time against the original scheduled time
  • Confusing departure delay with arrival delay — UK261 measures delay at the destination gate, not departure
  • Jet2 Holidays package bookings — the same UK261 compensation rules apply to flight-only bookings AND package holidays
  • Offering holiday vouchers or credits — you are entitled to cash compensation, not vouchers
